Along with home deliveries, click and collect is an increasingly popular service. The new drive-in lane will make shopping even quicker than before. Drive-in is an extension to the store’s already existing click and collect and home delivery services operated with Foodie’s Delivery solution.
With the online service, customers are able to place an order with a browser or with a mobile application, both part of Foodie’s offering. The collection point is open every day and customers are even able to pick up their online order on the same day they place the order.
“Click and collect has clearly found its customers and the need for drive-in is clear. It is easy to integrate drive-in into your daily routines, for example, on the way home from work. Click and collect has been in such high demand that the drive-in lane is already the fourth expansion of the service in its two-year history. We are also increasing the amount of storage space to be able to handle more orders,” says Jukka Ranua, Ecommerce Manager of HOK-Elanto.
Upon arriving at the drive-in, customers stop prior to the pickup point, give their order number and then proceed to receive the order. The orders can be paid in advance or when picking them up. The service fee for the click and collect is 3.90€ and customers earn normal S group bonus for the whole order.
Since starting the service in 2010, HOK-Elanto and Foodie have been been continuously at the forefront of the online groceries. This includes opening a dark store as well as chilled pickup lockers at Helsinki Airport this fall.
HOK-Elanto and S group use Foodie’s fulfilment solution to run all online grocery operations. This includes tablet-based software for picking optimization and automatic route planning for home deliveries. Foodie enables multiple pickers to process orders in parallel and pick multiple orders at the same time. Wireless barcode readers help avoid picking errors and enable quality operations. All information is processed in real time, allowing customers to modify their orders until the order has been selected for picking, thereby increasing the transparency in operations.
